Military Families – An Oxymoron?

Anyone connected to the military has heard the old adage, “If the military wanted you to have a family, they would have issued you one!” Perhaps some  commanders and unit leaders once believed this to be true, but today’s military knows that a strong support system at home means a stronger soldier. Stronger soldiers mean a stronger unit and  stronger military.

Mike Schinler’s book offers military families an excellent resource guide to nurture their families and their marriages. His book lists each command’s support network as well as their contact information and available resources.  One resource, Military OneSource is a central listing for military families to have all the information available in one place:  www.militaryonesource.com .

The site has recently been updated and has an easy to navigate menu on the left side to take you to the area of interest or concern. The great part to all this is that this service, provided by the Department of Defense, is provided at no cost to active duty, Reserve and Guard. For more info, visit the Resource section of www.operationmilitaryfamily.org – several key resources are listed here as well.
